Fremont Street Journal

Downtown Las Vegas, covered like it matters.

About the Journal

Most writing about Las Vegas is about the Strip. Downtown gets a paragraph, usually about the light show. We think the four blocks of Fremont Street between the Plaza and El Cortez are the most interesting part of the city, and the best value in it, and we cover them full time.

What we cover

  • Value. What a downtown room really costs, how resort fees work, when to book, and where the money goes further.
  • Downtown. What is opening, closing, and changing on and around Fremont Street.
  • History. Seventy-plus years of the street, from the Golden Gate to the World Series of Poker's first tables.
  • Eat & Drink. The steakhouses, the coffee shops, and the bars on Fremont East.
  • Events. The weekends that fill the city and what they do to downtown.

Who writes it

  • Nate Corliss, Value Editor. What a downtown room really costs, how resort fees work, when to book, and where a hundred dollars goes furthest.
  • Vera Holloway, Downtown Correspondent. The history, the characters, the food, and the daily life of the four blocks under the canopy and the streets just past it.
